CI Study on Facebook!

There have been several research groups investigating different aspects of canine chiari malformation and syringomyelia worldwide over the last decade.

Peer-reviewed publications provide information (results) on what has been investigated, how it was achieved and any conclusions. Importantly, they can draw attention to any limitations in the study and suggest ways forward.

The specific aims of our research is to
1.    identify the phenotypic variations that occur in CMSM
2.    facilitate and provide financial support for MRIs or other diagnostic means for CMSM
3.    collect suitable DNA and RNA of these phenotypic variations
4.    develop a genetic test to identify carriers
5.    devise breeding strategies to reduce or eliminate this devastating condition in affected breeds.
6.    investigate underlying molecular and cellular pathogenic mechanisms for better diagnosis, prognosis and .......clinical management of the CMSM
